The 24-year-old has not played for Barca since a serious injury to the internal meniscus in April, with the initial prognosis keeping the midfielder out for four months.
However, Alcantara’s recovery has not been straightforward and the playmaker is facing a further eight weeks out.
"I do not have an exact date [for Rafinha to return], we are waiting for him since the beginning of the season and we hope he can be with the group soon,” said Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde.
“We have to keep waiting, I can not say anything else.”
